PET JOKE OF THE WEEK:

A cat crosses Rainbow Bridge and goes to Heaven.

The Lord meets him at the gate and says, 'you have been wonderful
cat through all of your years. A loving friend and faithful companion, so
anything your heart desires shall be yours, all you need do is ask.'

The cat says, 'Well, I lived all my life with a very poor family
on a farm and I had to sleep on hardwood floors.'

The Lord says, 'Say no more.' Instantly, a fluffy pillow appears.

A few days later, 6 mice are exterminated and they too go to Heaven.
The Lord meets them at the gate with the same offer that He made the cat.

The mice say, 'All our lives we've had to run. Cats, dogs and
even women with brooms have chased us. If we could only have a
pair of roller skates, we wouldn't have to run anymore.'

The Lord says, 'Say no more.' Instantly, each mouse is fitted
with a beautiful pair of tiny roller skates.

About a week later, The Lord decides to check and see how the cat
is doing. The cat is sound asleep on his new pillow.

He gently wakes the cat and asks, 'How are you doing? Are you
happy here?'

The cat yawns and stretches and says, 'Oh, I've never been
happier in my life. And those Meals on Wheels you've been
sending over are the best!

PET TIP OF THE WEEK:
Always keep the toilet lid down if you use toilet bowl cleaners.
They are often alkaline, which is tempting for pets to drink, but can be toxic.
For a non-toxic alternative, sprinkle some baking soda into the bowl,
drizzle with vinegar and scour with a toilet brush.
This not only cleans, it deodorizes, as well.

RECIPE: FLEA FLEEING VEGGIE DOG BISCUITS

1 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup brewer's yeast (a natural flea repellent)
1 teaspoon salt
4 and 1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 clove garlic, chopped medium
1/2 cup vegetable stock (plus a little for basting).

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Mix flour, wheat germ, brewer's yeast, and salt together in a medium bowl.
In a separate bowl, combine oil and garlic. Alternately add 1/2 cup stock
and flour mixture in 3 parts; mix until well combined.

Knead for about 2 minutes by hand on floured surface.

2. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out about 3/8 inch thick.
Use any cookie cutter you like or roll into balls. Bake 10 minutes,
rotate baking sheet, and baste with remaining 3 tablespoons stock.
Bake 10 minutes longer. Turn off oven, and let them sit in there
with the oven door closed pan for at least 1 1/2 hours.

And that wraps up this week's newsletter! I hope you enjoyed it and I'm
looking  forward to your feedback.

Warmest Regards,
